The Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) system was developed by IBM in 2001 and released as open-source XML code in 2005. Since then it has become the gold standard for user-friendly documentation and structured information delivery. Highly conformable, lightweight yet robust, DITA offers an elegant information solution at the enterprise level or a simple how-to reference guide.
Steve gained 10 years of experience working with this technology to implement an end-to-end user documentation solution for GeoSigns nDI, Shell Oil Company's proprietary seismic subsurface interpretation software. Steve was responsible for research, writing, and editing content as well as deployment and the user interface. This system is now built out to an 850,000-word knowledge base utilized by hundreds of geologists, interpreters, and scientists at Shell.
If you would like to learn how DITA can deliver information to your users better and faster, contact Steve for a consultation.
